Vision & Goals for Parenting Students: Oregon State Parenting Student Data Collection and Reporting Requirements LIMITED
Thursday February 13, 2025 12:45pm - 1:45pm PST
“More than 4 million college students in the United States have children, representing nearly one in five undergraduate students and over a quarter of graduate students. But despite this group’s large size, an absence of data about their characteristics, experiences, and outcomes at the student level renders them nearly invisible.” Data-to-Action Campaign for Parenting Students. (2023, March 3). Urban Institute.
https://www.urban.org/projects/data-action-campaign-parenting-students This session aims to inform on the new state legislation requiring post-secondary institutions to collect and report parenting/caregiving student data and collection requirements. Share history and show data as to why supports are necessary for this unique population of students. We will share resources that attendees can take back to their institutions to help assess available resources for parenting students at their college.

The Messy Middle: The Joys and Challenges of Middle Management FILLING
Friday February 14, 2025 9:00am - 9:50am PST
As you grow in your profession, supervising may become a responsibility. Often, this responsibility is given to you without little training, support, or release of existing job responsibilities. Hiring, training, managing, and retaining your team members in addition to your existing work opportunities is exciting and challenging. In this session, we will discuss ways to build your supervisory skills and collaborate on case studies of situations middle managers experience. The goal is for folks to gain practical tips and resources they can implement with their team right away, with the hopes that they will be able to develop and retain the team they have.
